Time

In Time, using three different crossing media, booklet, videos and music, I explored the topics of entropy, time, and dimension, touching the surface of various subjects, such as personality disorder, doppelgänger, PTSD, the meaning of nation, multi-dimension, etc.

Three projects display in this page, Haiku, Entropy - +dlrow and Time- - Mie.

Haiku - Doppelganger

This booklet can be read in any direction, no back, no front, no up and no down.

This first page is the last page from other direction, this last page is the first page of that direction.

Inspired by the saying "when you encounter your doppelganger, the day will be the last day to live."

It made me to think the truth of ourselves, beneath the skin, the flesh and the bones, except the organs and blood, what formed us us, the uniqueness of each other. Combining my obsession to science, I questioned the imparity  of parallel universes, multi-dimension  and personality disorder by writing a script about the conversation between Yzold and Dlozy, the metaphor of myself, discussing the view of truth of worlds, truth of themselves in three different languages.

Past, Present and Future. Where exactly we are living in right now? Are we living in the present, looking back the past and thinking ahead of future? Or in fact, are we trapping in the past, yearning for present and hopeless for future? Or are we fantasize the future, paralyzed in present and abandoned by past? Where are we? Is this me actually me? Or is me manipulating me to act?

In the middle of booklet, an answer for my question has placed. What is really important is knowing there is love in us, there is affection, empathy and sympathy we can share.

Video: Entropy - +Dlrow

On February 1, 2003, the Space Shuttle Columbia disintegrated upon reentering Earth's atmosphere, killing all seven crew members. The disaster was the second fatal accident in the Space Shuttle program after Space Shuttle Challenger, which broke apart and killed the seven-member crew 73 seconds after liftoff in 1986.

Some engineers suspected that the damage to Columbia was more serious. NASA managers limited the investigation, reasoning that the crew could not have fixed the problem if it had been confirmed. (Wikipedia)

The song "Taijing Kyofusho" (対人恐怖症/たいじんきょうふしょう) (a Japanese culture-specific syndrome, meaning "the disorder of fear", a social phobia anxiety disorder.)  by The Evpatoria Report.

Entropy: a measure of the unavailable energy in a closed thermodynamic system that is also usually considered to be a measure of the system's disorder, that is a property of the system's state, and that varies directly with any reversible change in heat in the system and inversely with the temperature of the system broadly; the degree of disorder or uncertainty in a system; the degradation of the matter and energy in the universe to an ultimate state of inert uniformity b : a process of degradation or running down or a trend to disorder.

Inspired by the disaster of the Space Shuttle Columbia and the song, I was thinking about the chaos and disorganization of the world as while the people are having their "normal" lives on earth, the space-shuttle crew have to face their death, this extreme contrast is a state of entropy.

In this video, taking the Columbia Space Shuttle accident as a specimen, I reflect the explosion to ourselves, our bodies, our daily lives. Life is a swirling vortex of entropy. Our bodies subject to entropy, grow, increase, decay and eventual death. Every body is a subject of firecracker, a destination of explosion. Comparing to the oneness of world, wholeness of universes, the so-called freedom of us is an empty, entropic null.

No hay lástima en el Hado
Y la noche de Dios es infinita.
Tu materia es el tiempo, el incesante
Tiempo. Eres cada solitario instante.

Fate has no pity,
And God’s night is infinite.
Your matter is time, ceaseless
Time. You are each solitary moment. (you are not others, Jorge Luis Borges)

Video, Animation & Music Arrangement: Time - Mie

What is time?

Time is the indefinite continued progress of existence and events that occur in apparently irreversible succession from the past through the present to the future.

Time is our scars.

Time is that green-eye giant, is micro germs, simultaneously touching widely separated years and the distant periods we have lived through.

For this video, I composed a continuously changing 7/14 and 4/4 score to mirror the coherence of time in different dimensions, with some electronic sounds and beats I produced to metaphorize the contingency into the song.

Many imagines in this video present the theoretisch of multi-dimension, decay and melioration of living.

Just go with the flow, from null to infinity.

"All this span of time had not only been lived, thought, secreted uninterruptedly, that it was time of me, that it was myself, but more still because I had at every moment to keep it attached to myself, that it bore me up, that I was poised on its dizzy summit, that I could not move without taking it with me. " -À la recherche du temps perdu ,Marcel Proust

Further interpretation of  À la recherche du temps perdu combining with personal identification, conflict of east and west, time, euphoria, and utopia is in Huachuanting - the floral river pavilion
